Infrared (IR) thermography is a powerful nondestructive investigative tool used within buildings for preventative maintenance, energy conservation, quality control and security functions. The main function of a building’s fenestration system (walls, windows, glazing and doors) is to keep the conditioned inside air in and the unconditioned outside ambient air out.

Infrared thermographic imaging extends the perception of the human eye beyond visible wavelengths. High resolution images developed using the infrared spectrum show where heat is concentrated by either false color or gray tones. For example, they can show where heat is leaking out of a building or where warmer surface temperatures exist.
